I enjoy seeing fathers taking an interest in getting their kids outdoors in search of adventure. Eddie and his son Samual are on holidays to enjoy some fishing in their boat. They also had a plan...for Samual to catch his first Estuary Perch on a lure. We suggested the Venus Bay Islands and a few tactics. They did that and more. Spent the past week at Inverloch where my son really wanted to target estuary perch. We had three afternoon sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and under your advice we headed over to the Venus bay islands. On the Tuesday I got 1 EP (released) and a nice flatty on a 3.5 inch shad tail minnow but unfortunately my son got donuts. On the Wednesday we had some yabbies and my son Samuel got his first ever EP (albeit on bait but it was his first) and a nice trevally. Caught 5 EP for the afternoon and kept a couple for the table. Finally on the Thursday in the last 30 minutes of fishing time for us, he got his first EP on a soft plastic (released after some pics) and then quickly followed it up with a nice flatty. He was stoked to say the least. On this day I got donuts and was convincingly out fished by my 10 year old, we also got 2 more EPs on yabbies.
The EPs were hard work and not the biggest but my son learnt heaps and mission accomplished. Thanks again for the advice.
