Starting November 2015, a new orange Hobie® will be seen on waterways around the world but there will not be many of them. In celebration of the 15th birthday of Hobie’s iconic Mirage® Outback, a limited edition model with visually distinct special features was introduced today at ICAST in the USA... the Hobie Mirage Outback Limited Edition. Each of them will be individually numbered one to 500.  Don't miss out! The iconic, orange, 2015 Hobie Mirage Outback will be available on a first come first, serves basis in strictly limited numbers!   The Outback, Hobie’s first boat with molded-in rod holders, is what kicked off Hobie’s entry into the kayak fishing market and is now being used by anglers across the globe.

It finally happened...after a good blow from the South West and some seriously good swell which all the surfers have enjoyed. From first light today, trevally were hooked in big numbers again. As it got closer to high tide, the schools as salmon could be seen in the shallows and the game changed. Bait rigs were removed and the spinning started. What a session at Pensioners Point! But it didn't stop there. Next the boats that had braved the extremely cold conditions were rewarded with fish 1.8kg in the main channel off Townsend Bluff. (along from the mouth of screw Creek)

After being teased for the last month or so, a solid run of salmon came close to the Inverloch shoreline at Pensioners Point. The schools outside are in the vancinity of 3 kg and up to 65cm and having been moving from Cape Paterson towards the mouth of Andersons Inlet. Today, just after the high tide, fish to just under 2 kg were landed on metal lures. The best being the Searock Ultra Flash 40gram in pilchard. The Ol' Boys have been waiting and were well reward for their patience. And fortunately, caught the fish before the storm came through. A good forecast for the week-end and afternoon high tides will ensure the beaches are shoulder to shoulder with punters. Have a fish filled long week-end.

The gutter formation along the Venus Bay Beaches is deep and within casting distance from the high tide mark. Schools of salmon are moving along the gutters throughout the tides. Best baits are blue bait and pilchard fillets. If using poppers, tip with a strip of squid. If it's quiet on the baits, try spinning metal lures along side your baits. You will cast further and the lure action may bring the salmon in. Also it can indicated whether the salmon are moving along the gutters or in the whitewash.

A 17 foot Tandem Fishing Kayak weighing 104 kgs.....who would of thought???...the answer is Hobie! Of course. So we have seen the Hobie Videos and the blurbs...now it is time to test the Hobie Pro Angler 17....ROD BENDING STYLE! Our target fish is Estuary Perch and around the mangroves of Anderson Inlet is our destination.   With 3 drive wells incorporated into the hull, it was also a great opportunity to test the Hobie Evolve Motor by Torqeedo. A beautiful sunrise but a very cold Sth Gippsland morning. (Wearing a beanie in January....Australian Summers).

Rory Mackenzie landed a crackin' Gummy Shark using fresh bait at Mahers Landing during the summer holidays. His son Romi was so impressed he had to have a go. Romi landed his first gummy that he released unharmed. The viewers poll indicated pound for pound, your fish was bigger! Well done Romi!
