When Jeff Findlay was considering electric motor options for his Hobie Pro Angler 14, he still wanted to be able to use the mirage drive in shallow water. He was impressed with all of the attributes of the Hobie Evolve motor from Torqeedo, lightweight, lithium waterproof battery, remote throttle with magnetic key connection, built in GPS with trip information and battery life and complete waterproof  in-hull wiring. But he would still be required to remove the motor and replace it with the mirage drive. So during his research he can across the Torqeedo UltraLight 403.

Took The New 2015 Hobie Revolution 13 for a spin. Put the Vantage seat in the highest position to test stabilty and do some recovery tests. Over all the kayak in pretty stable on the high position but you would need to be aware and take care when moving around to quickly.

The reward for fishing the tough conditions this week-end come in  quality fish.  This bream of 46cm took a live bass yabby. At Mahers Landing, good sized gummies have been hooked on trevally fillet in the most appaulling conditions. Thank the fishing gods, the conditions are improving for the rest of the long week-end.

Long weekends and school holidays during Spring and Summer are the times to get outdoors with the kids and have adventures. Kids are having a great time fishing Anderson Inlet, Inverloch. On the safe protected beaches, there are a variety of species to catch during the Spring. Around the high tide, Flathead, Australian Salmon, Trevally and Mullet are taking pipi, beach worm, pilchard pieces and blue-bait. You can fish along any of the sandy beaches from Pensioners Point back to the mouth of Screw Creek. As the tide turns to run out, this is the time to target the bigger flathead that will be on the move back into the channels. They cannot resist a feast of pilchard fillets or pieces of delicious blue-bait.

The warmer weather patterns and the subsequent increase in water temperature has produced the first quality catches of Whiting and Pinkie Snapper in Anderson Inlet.  The key areas to target whiting are.......the new lagoon that has formed inside the entrance at Point Norman , land-based behind the Yacht Club, the weed-beds east of the jetty, (both land-based and from a kayak), Stevies Gutter from boat and kayak and the shell bank out the front of the Inverloch Boat Hire. The best baits are live bass yabbies, beach worm, squid strips and pipi. Behind the Yacht Club is the area to target calamari at this early pont in the season. Pearl squid jigs are the best to start with as they reperesent the bait fish colors.

Young Baxter from Inverloch had an awesome time fishing the inlet beaches of Anderson Inlet. But it wasn't just bait fishing, Baxter has mastered casting and retieving lures. Check out Baxter's casting style. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_UlCBIZnTpwaXNWZ0h0MWtDbWc/edit?pli=1 Footnote: It is great to see that Baxter is wearing the right clothing to be fishing lures....sunglasses and cap for protection.

Fishing out of one of Hobie’s Pro Angler 12- or 14’s is so much fun that Hobie is now making it possible for two anglers to share the experience in the same boat.  Introducing the Pro Angler 17T.  Three different configurations include traditional in-line tandem seating, face-to-face social tandem or solo, all with enough room for man’s best four-legged friend…and with plenty of space for standing, casting and fly fishing in comfort.
