Estuary Perch...Tarwin River Highlights 20th May 2013

Mon, 05/20/2013 - 14:20 -- David Walsh

I had a window of opportunity to fish the Tarwin River this morning with Shane Osbourne. Target..... Estuary Perch and test out Shane's new Lowrance HDS-7 structure scan.

Conditions were fine, overcast and cold. We launched our Hobie Revo 13's at the Tarwin River boat ramp just before 8am and headed up-stream with the last of the run in tide.

Estuary Perch Tarwin River 22nd January 2013

The Estuary Perch have moved up above the highway bridge in the Tarwin River. Schools of fish to 32cm can be sounded up in the boat or kayak. If you are in search of the 40cm plus, drift with the outgoing tide and target the larger fish in tight on the one off snags. Most consistent soft baits have been the Sqidgy bug or 100 mm Wrigglers in Blood worm or the Strike Pro Pigmy (suspending) in the striped minnow pattern.
