Salmon come in after SW Blow 16th July 2015

Wed, 07/15/2015 - 13:50 -- David Walsh

It finally happened...after a good blow from the South West and some seriously good swell which all the surfers have enjoyed.

From first light today, trevally were hooked in big numbers again. As it got closer to high tide, the schools as salmon could be seen in the shallows and the game changed.

Bait rigs were removed and the spinning started. What a session at Pensioners Point! But it didn't stop there. Next the boats that had braved the extremely cold conditions were rewarded with fish 1.8kg in the main channel off Townsend Bluff. (along from the mouth of screw Creek)

Surf Fishing Clinics Venus Bay 31st May 2014

Tue, 06/03/2014 - 08:48 -- David Walsh

We conducted our first Surf Fishing Clinic on the Venus Bay Beach 1 on Saturday 31st May 2014. Start time was 10am with 5 adults and 2 kids attending.

The aim of the clinic was to cover reading the beach, safety, casting, rigging, bait and lure fishing  and looking after your catch.

At 10 am, it was 2 hours into the run in tide. This was perfect to highlight how the incoming tide was to work from the major hole on Beach 1 and flow along the gutter to the north.

Photo 1 (below) shows the deep low tide hole, which was producing many mullet and small salmon on pipi.

Land based fishing highlights for July

Tue, 07/16/2013 - 13:38 -- James

The cold clear waters of Andersons Inlet are looking very "fishy" come this time of year. If you're a follower of our Rod Bendings World facebook page, no doubt you've noticed the Aussie Salmon action out in the entrace over the last 3 months. Well the Fish have now come over the sand bars and are accessible to land based anglers. From the "Old" entrance to the boardwalk at Pymble avenue, there have been fine catches of Australian Salmon, Estuary Perch, Silver Trevally, Mullet and the odd burst of winter Whiting.
