Salmon Off the Inverloch Beaches 7th June 2016

Tue, 06/07/2016 - 15:58 -- David Walsh

In horrific conditions today, a good sized school of Australian Salmon moved along the beaches at Pensioners Point.

Fish ranged from 32 to 43cm and smashed silver metal lures cast out into the channel.

After checking our records, the Salmon were three days later than last year.

So put the first week of June in your diaries for next year and hope it coincides with the black days (three days after each new moon) in the Fishing Almanac.

Get your spinning gear and your metal lures to fish the last hour of the incoming times over the next few days.

Inverloch....Landbased Salmon.....grab a lure and have a crack!

Fri, 07/04/2014 - 16:42 -- David Walsh

The pattern of late afternoon tides and big salmon off Pensioners Point continued. Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons produced 2kg fish around the high tide. This also coincided with a high barometer reading of 1030 and north/north-west winds increasing your casting distance.

Metal lures 25-40 gram produced the results and some quality fish were taken on blue bait.

So when you are planning a trip, I would suggest you consider the Wednesday 16th July through to Sunday 20th to spin off Pensioners Point.

Smashing Start to Salmon Season...Anderson Inlet..9th May 2013

Thu, 05/09/2013 - 14:29 -- David Walsh

Large schools of Australian Salmon are making there way inside the mouth of Anderson Inlet. From kayak or boat, you will have an action packed session trolling or spinning lures.

The current water temperature is 15 degrees and on each incoming tide, the schools are progressing further into the Inlet.

For land-based anglers, the entrance to Anderson Inlet has been productive two hours either side of the high tide. Boaters and kayakers are working the main channel from the Snags to the Bar at the mouth of Andersons Inlet.

Surf Fishing Opportunitities 3rd May 2013

Fri, 05/03/2013 - 14:21 -- David Walsh

Strong winds from the south west bring the schools of Australian Salmon closer to the surf beaches and into the estuaries along the southern coast of Victoria. And that is going to happen tommorrow.

So plan to fish from Sunday 5th onwards. The high tides are corresponding with first and last light which makes the afternoon sessions more appealing.

Kayakers have been smashing the salmon in the main channel into Anderson Inlet. The schools are on the edges of the channels and in some cases are in as little as 4 feet of water.
