Between the cold fronts passing through Sth Gippsland, and a good south-westerly blow, the Venus Bay Surf beaches are producing flathead to 50 cm and gummy shark to 7 kg. Mac from our Inverloch store fished Beach 1 on consecutive nights on the lead up to New Moon. A rising barometer on the last of the incoming tide made for perfect conditions. Fishing with Saury and trevally fillets, Mac was rewarded with 5 and 7kg gummy sharks and two flathead to 55 cm. Also on the beach during the New Moon, 3 other reports of gummies to 6 kg.
