Land-Based Snapper Inverloch Beaches 10th November 2016

Thu, 11/10/2016 - 16:47 -- David Walsh

With a fine break in the weather and an increase in the water temperature, the fishing and variety of fish has greatly improved.

From the beaches at Inverloch, Snapper to 78cm and Gummy Shark to a metre have been taken from the beaches after dark.

Last year the Snapper entered the Inlet around mid October, but this year it is all happening a month later. But the rewards have been outstanding. Alfie (pictured) used up all his leave passes to fish the nightime off the Inverloch Beaches.

Book your Hobie Eclipse Test Drive.

Wed, 08/31/2016 - 12:39 -- David Walsh

We had great fun testing the Hobie Mirage Eclipse on Anderson Inlet last Saturday. Conditions were a little messy...a 3 knot outgoing tide with a 12-15knot WNW cross wind.

Main excellent ground into the tide and all who tested were impressed by the stability of both the 10.5 and the 12' Eclipse.

Steering was very responsive and will post a video soon.

A big thanks to Shane Osbourne for his great photos.

Great Salmon Run off the Beach at Inverloch 4th August 2016

Thu, 08/04/2016 - 09:51 -- David Walsh

Well, all the planets aligned following the New Moon this week.

A high barometer reading around 1030, overcast conditions and a light southerly breeze. And the Australian Salmon didn't disappoint.

Spinning lures off the beach east of the Jetty towards the Mouth of Screw Creek produced fish to 60cm a couple of hours either side of the high tide. Blue bait patterns were the most successful pattern of lure.

Waders are a must as the tide starts to run out, you will need to walk out further to reach the school.

Salmon Off the Inverloch Beaches 7th June 2016

Tue, 06/07/2016 - 15:58 -- David Walsh

In horrific conditions today, a good sized school of Australian Salmon moved along the beaches at Pensioners Point.

Fish ranged from 32 to 43cm and smashed silver metal lures cast out into the channel.

After checking our records, the Salmon were three days later than last year.

So put the first week of June in your diaries for next year and hope it coincides with the black days (three days after each new moon) in the Fishing Almanac.

Get your spinning gear and your metal lures to fish the last hour of the incoming times over the next few days.

Drone View of Anderson Inlet. 9th June 2016

Mon, 06/06/2016 - 11:38 -- David Walsh

With Salmon Season underway, we were fortunate to have some great weather to send up a Drone up last week.

The purpose  to show the best land-based options to fish with a better understanding of the changing sand bars and channels.

The salmon schools are  moving in on the tides following large bait schools. So where are the best locations to reach when spinning lures and bait fishing?
