Searching for Salmon Update 21st June 2016

Thu, 06/16/2016 - 11:46 -- David Walsh

Land Based spinning for Salmon on Inlet beaches can be rewarding and there are times when you spin your ar** off for nought.

Don't expect the Australian Salmon to always move along the same sections of beach. As they are always following bait schools, they will be where the bait schools go.

When spinning, releasing berley can attract them towards the area you are fishing. The beginning of the run out tide is the best time as it suck out  into the deeper water.

Salmon Time on Venus Bay Beaches 21st May 2015

Fri, 05/22/2015 - 12:29 -- David Walsh

The gutter formation along the Venus Bay Beaches is deep and within casting distance from the high tide mark.

Schools of salmon are moving along the gutters throughout the tides.

Best baits are blue bait and pilchard fillets. If using poppers, tip with a strip of squid.

If it's quiet on the baits, try spinning metal lures along side your baits. You will cast further and the lure action may bring the salmon in. Also it can indicated whether the salmon are moving along the gutters or in the whitewash.

Spring Fishing Highlights and Opportunities 29th October 2014

Mon, 10/13/2014 - 18:12 -- David Walsh

The warmer weather patterns and the subsequent increase in water temperature has produced the first quality catches of Whiting and Pinkie Snapper in Anderson Inlet.

The key areas to target whiting are.......the new lagoon that has formed inside the entrance at Point Norman , land-based behind the Yacht Club, the weed-beds east of the jetty, (both land-based and from a kayak), Stevies Gutter from boat and kayak and the shell bank out the front of the Inverloch Boat Hire. The best baits are live bass yabbies, beach worm, squid strips and pipi.
