The pattern of late afternoon tides and big salmon off Pensioners Point continued. Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons produced 2kg fish around the high tide. This also coincided with a high barometer reading of 1030 and north/north-west winds increasing your casting distance.
Metal lures 25-40 gram produced the results and some quality fish were taken on blue bait.
So when you are planning a trip, I would suggest you consider the Wednesday 16th July through to Sunday 20th to spin off Pensioners Point.
When the tides are during the day, Venus Bay Surf Beach is a great option. Blue Bait, surf poppers and spinning lures will produce fish 2 hours either side of the high tide.
