Inverloch Fishing Hightlights 8th November 2012

The Snapper have well and truly entered Anderson Inlet. An unusual 2 kg fish was taken from the Inverloch Jetty late last week and further reports from boats of 3kg fish taken from the bottom of the Horseshoe at Doyles Rd.  Best baits Us Squid, whole pilchards and trevally fillets.

Salmon schools are taking metal lures (pearl the best color) at the mouth of the Inlet on the last two hours of the run in tide.

Whiting are making there summer homes around the weed beds off the (old) Kiosk Cafe and the end off Pimble Avenue (east of the jetty) for landbased anglers. For boaters at Stevies Gutter, the whiting are there but you will need to sort through many undersize whiting at this stage. Live yabbies and fresh pipi are the best baits. But you will find some good fish to 35cm.

Trevally are abundant from Mahers Landing through to the mouth of the Tarwin River. So now with the salt water pushing deep into the Inlet, land based anglers fishing the lower reaches of the Tarwin River (i.e. the Rock wall) will now start to produce mullet, trevally and salmon on the incoming tide. Estuary perch have been moving up the system with live bass yabbies, peeled prawns and worms being the best of the baits. Target them around the mouth of the river through to the rock wall.

Outside the inlet, good catches of flathead on the Venus Bay side and squid, trevally and whiting out off Flatrocks.

On the Venus Bay Beaches, gummy shark to  8kg off Beach 4 at the top of the tide through the run out tide. Best bait is trevally fillets.

Enjoy the more consistent weather and have fun.
