Tarwin River Estuary Perch on Poppers 16th January 2014

16 Jan 2014

Joel targeted Estuary Perch on surface poppers in the Tarwin River this morning. He was up pre-sparrows and had a great session catching and  releasing 30 perch around the highway bridge. The fish were most active before the sun was up over the trees and were smashing the lures on the surface in the shadows. One of the larger 49 cm perch swallowed the lure. Joel was concerned that it may not survive being released and placed him in the live tank. On his return to the Tarwin Boat Ramp, he checked it and it was full of fight and was returned to the water. The sun was now up and the perch went straight under the jetty for protection. Good on ya mate!
